Last March 25, 2009, AHON Foundation launched its 25th adopted library at the Pinagtungulan Elementary School in San Jose, Batangas.
The Pinagtungulan Elementary School was the first school to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with AHON Foundation in the Southern Luzon area. They were ready to launch their library after 2 weeks of working together to make new and colorful shelves, tables and chairs for their students, thanks to the strong bayanihan spirit in their community led by their principal, Mrs. Estrella Aguilera, their barangay captain, Nick Umali, and other local government councilors.
Mr. Gerry Laroza, Head of the IT Group of the Rizal Library of the Ateneo de Manila, and alumnus of the Pinagtungulan Elementary School was instrumental in leading AHON Foundation to this project. Gerry also brought donations of other books from the Rizal Library, and a computer that will eventually pave the way for creating an online catalog system for the school.
